Minor Surgical Procedures are often less invasive and time consuming then other surgeries.
These procedures are generally carried out as a 'day case' procedure which in most cases do not require a general anaesthetic. Minor Surgical procedures are performed under local anaesthetic for optimal patient comfort.
Minor Surgeries that may be performed within St James Clinic include:
- Eye Bag Removal (Blepharoplasty) Surgery
Eye bag removal addresses the problem of loose skin around the eyes, which can look tired and older, adding years to the whole face. The surplus fatty tissue and relaxed muscle in the eyelids is removed to tighten the skin. Firming up the lids and reducing the hooded appearance of under-eye pouches; this procedure usually takes between 1 to 3 hours to complete.
- Removal of: moles, cysts, lesions, skin tags, cosmetic lumps and warts
The removal of moles, cysts, lesions, skin tags, cosmetic lumps and warts with minor surgery will generally take approximately 20minutes to remove. A careful examination of the condition by our Surgeons and a detailed review of patient history to ensure lumps are benign, will take place prior to surgery.
The procedure techniques for these minor surgeries may involve cutting, scraping (curetting), or freezing. Sutures (stitches) may be required in some cases.
